Journal #1 Angels and Demons
"Antimatter creates no pollution or radiation, and a droplet could power New York City for a full day." In the novel Angels and Demons by Dan Brown the idea of antimatter existing is unbelievable. Antimatter is the key to solving the lack of power through out the world and stoping pollution that would harm our planet. Before ever reading this novel I didn't know it was possible to create something so efficient. Just like everything else in the world it has good and bad consequences. Antimatter is highly unstable and can explode when coming into contact with anything even air. Exposing antimatter would help aid many of the world's problems but when placed in the wrong hands can be dangerous to society. The power of antimatter is so great that it would set fear over society not knowing who has control over the substance and where it would be kept that it would be safe. Scientists who created antimatter didn't have the intentions of creating something that could possibly destroy the human race. When the atomic bomb was being created the powers of the world were on a race to see who could be the first to create it. Just like the atomic bomb it would create many issues on who creates it and whos using it. If antimatter became stable and didn't ignite with anything we would be able to use the substance as a magor energy source across the world.

Nice, well-written paragraph Sam. I agree with you in every aspect, especially the Atomic Bomb comparison. Creation of the antimatter was meant for a major breakthrough in science, but with advancements in technology comes more problems for us to fix. Of course if there is something that powerful created, someone is going to get there hands on it and soon enough, terrorists will be threatening countries with the power to wipe them off the Earth with a substance with less volume than a water bottle.

Very interesting Sam. I do agree that antimatter is an amazing scientific discovery, with all its crazy facts it can do like having a droplet of it power New York city for a fullday. I also think that it's also a terrible thing in the fact that people can use it for terrible destruction. I also wonder why people think of this new energy source instantly as a weapon, why is mankind so keen on turning somthing that could help save the world into somthing that can destroy the world?
Knowing the fact that antimatter could be very useful to our society is very exciting, but at the same time knowing that it could be used in horrible ways is very concerning as well. Hopefully one day antimatter will be discovered in a way that it can help serious issues around the world.

Antimatter is one of the greatest mysteries that people may be able to think of. How would someone make something from nothing? When scientists were making this, they had no idea what to expectfrom it if it was possible to make. IF the energy from antimatter was able to be harnessed, you are right, earth would become more energy efficient, and we could use the energy for almost everything. However there are still questions on how this would be contained safely, like you pointed out. Antimatter would be a terrorists dream, and if it got in the wrong hands, then we have just created a new way to kill ourselfs. Right now I dont know what to say because antimatter scares the crap out of me, and there are so many questions without answers that I cant even think of. I think I'll leave all the thinking of antimatter to the professionals.
Antimatter is crazy to think about. A source of power that did not create any pollution would be a true miracle and could solve so many problems, although it does have negatives. If only people didn't instantly think of changing positive discoveries into negatives.
Hey Sam. Antimatter is certainly a tool that could benefit the world thouroughly or create devastating horror. The clean pure energy that antimatter would produce may not out weigh the possible terror that it could potentially muster. It has happened in the past with the atom, and antimatter could simply create more destruction. Science will continually progress and so will terrorism, it is up mankind to make the best of its breakthroughs.
